On September 16, 2014, the School Opening Ceremony for Professional Degree Students 2014 & Annual Report Meeting for 2014 was held at the lecture hall, 2nd floor, Administration Building, SUFE. The ceremony was attended by Zou Ping, vice president of the Graduate School, leaders of the School of Public Economics and Administration Shen Hui and Liu Xiaochuan, associated principals from the Education Center of Professional Degree Students in Public Administration, Taxation and Asset Valuation and internal and external tutors. The School Opening Ceremony was attended by 88 new students of 2014 in Public Administration, Taxation and Asset Valuation and 60 senior students of 2013 in Taxation and Asset Valuation. The meeting was hosted by Shen Hui, party branch secretary of the School of Public Economics and Administration.

Professor Zou Ping, vice president of the Graduate School, sent best wishes with the school opening ceremony for new students and the report meeting of senior students of the school of Public Economics and Administration on behalf of the Graduate School. Professor Zou Ping described the importance of the development of Professional Degree Students from perspectives of national development strategies and economic and social development needs and spoke highly of the school’s Professional Degree Students in Taxation, Asset Valuation and Public Administration. He also pointed out that the above 3 majors are SUFE’s brand and competitive products out of its 12 professional degree majors because three features have been formed in the school’s development of professional degree students: a) The dual-tutor system, b) Giving full play to the role of practice bases, c) The combination of the school opening ceremony for new students and the report meeting of senior students.

Professor Liu Xiaochun, vice president of the school of Public Economics and Administration, stated that as the development of professional master’s degree students is a new thing, we need to constantly explore and learn from experience and lessons and the school opening ceremony and report meeting provides the best opportunity for us to do that. He also expressed his sincere expectations for new and senior students, encouraged the students to put study first, pay more attention to the reform and opening up and industry trends, expand their knowledge base and enrich themselves by the high standards for industry elites.

New students of 2014 introduced themselves in a spectacular way and senior students of 2013 shared their experience and growth over the past year from aspects of learning and internship, etc. and expressed ardent blessing to new students.

Leaders responsible for each professional degree education center announced the list of newly-employed external tutors and issued letters of employment at the meeting. Ms. Zhang Meiling, chairman of the board of Shanghai Lixin Appraisal encouraged the students to constantly work hard by giving them five words -piety, learning, health, dream and smile. Mr. Deng Yinsheng, chairman of the board of Shanghai Kuangheng Appraisal, reviewed the overall growth characteristics of China’s economy over the past 30 years, and pointed out that with the improvement of China’s market economy, the era of wild growth has ended and a new era of rules has come. Particularly, the establishment of “the principle of legalism of tax revenue” reflects that rules are playing an increasingly bigger role. Therefore, he hoped the students could cherish the good learning environment provided by the university, and consolidate their expertise. Ren Jimao, director of Public Administration Degree Education Center, made a speech where he pointed out that today was an important turning point and “a filling station” in the students’ life, stressed the importance of an MPA degree given major national and social changes that required new management methods and management tools and expressed great expectations for the students’ future.
At the end of the meeting, Shenwei scholarship donation ceremony and social scholarship award ceremony were held, where Ms. Ma Lihua, chairman of the board of Shanghai Shenwei Appraisal personally gave the donation to the school. Mr. Jiang Xiao, vice president of Orient Appraisal, presented winning students with Orient Appraisal Master Rookie Award and Comprehensive Award on behalf of the company; Ms. Zhang Meiling, chairman of the board of Shanghai Lixin Appraisal and Chief Appraiser Ms. Shu Ying respectively presented winning students with Lixin Appraisal Master Rookie Award and Comprehensive Award on behalf of the company; Ms. Ma Lihua, chairman of the board of Shanghai Shenwei Appraisal presented winning students with Shenwei Appraisal Master Rookie Award and Comprehensive Award on behalf of the company; Mr. Yan Xizhong, director of Shanghai Fortran Law Firm, presented winning students with Fortran taxation scholarship on behalf of the firm; Professor Zhu Weiqun, director of Tax Master Degree Education Center, SUFE, presented winning students with Zhonghui taxation scholarship under the entrustment of Mr. Yao Huiming, partner of Zhonghui Certified Tax Agents.
