Dear school leaders, teachers and students,

    First of all, I’d like to thank the school for giving me this opportunity to make a speech. I’d like to congratulate all students. You’ve embarked on a new study journey from today.

    MPA education first appeared in the U.S. on October 3, 1924, when Syracuse University in New York officially founded the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, bringing MPA education into existence. On the lawn of the school stands former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln's statue. Staring at the ground, he seems to be in thought, “As an administrator, have you done a better job than last year or than the previous administrator?”

    In a field such as public administration, there is no best, only better. Meanwhile, “Move forward, or you'll fall behind” is a golden rule in public administration. Our responsibility is to promote constant progress in public administration.

    We have made huge progress in public administration for the past 30 years since the implementation of reform and opening-up. But we must see that there are many issues in this field. We shall have a clear development direction and discover the focal points for innovation and starting points for success.

    To be aggressive, innovative and successful requires constant exploration, study, reference, innovation, practice, summarization, sharing and communication.

    Through efforts, SUFE MPA constant grows and wins wide reputation. You’ve made a right choice by studying MPA in SUFE.

    But a right choice is just the first step. You still have a long way to go. You must finish all required courses, earn enough credit points and pass the thesis defense before receiving your diploma and degree certificate. Wish you academic success!
